About Me

Hello! My Name is Melissa Kamhout. I am very excited to be your child's teacher!

I was born and raised on a farm in Idaho. Although I live in the city now, I still have a great love for riding horses and the smell of fresh rain on the hay fields. I graduated from Boise State University with a degree in Elementary Education and later earned my Master's degree in reading with an emphasis on diagnosing and correcting reading difficulties. I've taught in Meridian School District since 1997. I have been teaching first grade for the past six years and I absolutely love it.

My husband, Scott, and I have a sixteen year old daughter, a black Labrador, and a cat. In our spare time, we love to go on day trips, read, and eat ice cream. My daughter and my mother love to volunteer in our classroom. You may see them around.

I love all things chocolate and bubblegum as well as books, great movies, and new crayons.

I could definitely live without gluten, rap music, and pinchy shoes.

I can't wait to meet all of you and get to know you better! This is going to be a great year thanks to wonderful parents like you!
